It was a wonderful wonderful experience – we’ve been at Oak Bay forever it seems like – going back to when Hank owned it and then through Madeline‘s time there and then she closed shop and we were looking for another vet and feel so lucky to have found you – it was especially wonderful to see Hank again but the whole staff from the front office to the nurse are just remarkably knowledgeable and a whole lot of fun. Whoopee really really loved the experience and that’s saying a lot for her so thank you very much Gary

I have two suggestions: 1. One x-ray to show how many spines are visible in a pregnant bitch does not warrant a radiologist review and should only cost $80 to $85 in today s market. 2. A Well dog exam for an x-ray is not warranted. But if performed should not be perfunctory. Temp should be taken, patellas checked, ears checked. The well dog exam for my other dog who was in for a rabies shot was better. Bill Burns

The staff has always shown extraordinary patience and compassion toward my special needs pug. Despite what can only be described as a very excitable dog, they are kind and efficient. Dr. Clarke is a remarkable vet with a professional, expert approach to my difficult little guy. I travel six hours (both ways) to access this service for my pug. It is very much worth the travel.

We have come to your clinic twice now. While I am always hopeful to find a caring and knowledgeable vet, I also care about the service. Today I want to write you about something that I observed in reception. When we first arrived one of the employees announced to the other employee in reception that the Science Diet Rep was going to be arriving. The SD Rep did arrive a few moments later. We listened to the rep talk about the products that are finally in stock and they have bags now and we listened while she talked about some offer that if they fulfill it she will buy lunch for the staff and listened while she told that part of the story, not once but three times. We also heard about other offers and products from the rep. Almost the whole time a customer was waiting to speak with someone at the front desk. The customer paced and walked around the reception area. She leaned against the wall. She walked up to the desk twice. The SD Rep went on and on and your reception employee was allowing all this to happen. I am in HR by trade and this was intolerable in my opinion. I am sure that reception will get this message. It is important to deal with your customers first. I am pretty sure the SD Rep would have understood if she was asked to hold so that you could take care of the customer.

I recently scheduled an appointment specifically for a rabies shot and a neuter estimate. I realize there are vaccines that should be done to ensure my dog’s safety but there wasn’t a single moment where cost was discussed. I’m having a hard time affording a neuter and even though I was promised an estimate at the visit when I scheduled it, that also wasn’t discussed. And after tacking on 4 additional things that I wasn’t prepared for, the vet tech comes in with a fecal matter test tube and tells me I’ll prepay for it and drop it off. Never asked if that’s something I wanted to do or discussed pricing again. So what I thought would be a $100-$110 visit and preparation for neuter turned into a $400 visit and no neuter estimate or appointment in sight. I’m expecting a baby and truly I’m only coming in for the neuter because center valley rescue has had me on a wait list since March and I need this done before my baby arrives. I’m not one to complain but this visit was sort of disappointing. Especially after always having such great experiences at your clinic. I felt disregarded and upsold at this visit in a time when I really can’t afford it.

I was very pleased with my first experience at the clinic. And was so appreciative of the staff finding an appointment time for us!

We had to walk to the appointment, due to our dog s car anxiety. We didn t mind giving up our afternoon for this, but when we got there in plenty of time, we had to wait 20 minutes because the tech was on the phone with another client . Not sure why the tech couldn t prioritize us, since we had an appointment.

We did not see a doctor at our request. The tech brought Kona s oral meds to our car and administered it. Excellent care for my anxious Shiba. Very impressed with the flexibility to do this. Tech was OUTSTANDING dealing with a dog reluctant to cooperate.

I especially appreciated the kindness and care expressed by the nice assistant!

I most appreciated the attentive care of a new elderly canine patient.

Dr Rooker took time to examine Sammi, she listened to our observations and came to a tentative conclusion of the problem... since we did not want to subject Sammi to a MRI she gave us 2 tentative diagnosis and a treatment plan of observation and attentive care. Sammi is improving daily. We thank Dr Rooker.
